Finally, Donkoi and I were standing at the same spot on this revolving globe as the first snow of the year was occurring at the Upstate New York.
The first time I have seen the first snow of the year was at Seoul, Korea. As the weather forecast indicated the possibility of the first snowing day during the three days we were in the city, everyone in our tour group had been anticipating for it to happen. It finally happened as we were starting to have breakfast at the ski resort. A lady observed the white feather slowly falling down. She was definitely excited. She screamed, "It snowed. It snowed." Then, some of the group tour members just ran outdoor right away leaving behind the nicely laid sausages and eggs. As of my family, we sped up our breakfast eating. By the time we were outside, the snow was still falling. Only then I realized that it was difficult to capture the snow in the photo under the broad day light.
After our ski trip, we were going downhill on a snowy road. The bus driver was very cautious in his driving. At one point, he stopped the bus and went down to pour salt. Pour salt?! For the first timer in snow, I was curious what it was for. It was not until my second snow encounter that I knew snow could be very beautifully dangerous, just like a woman. :-D
I started typing this on the first snow day here. However, I typed slower than the weather changes here. The first snow trace disappeared in a sunny Friday evening. On Saturday, the temperature just continued to stay low and snow started falling again for at least 12 hours. I stopped counting the hours because I had a nice long sleep together with my Donkoi in this cold weather.
6 years later, I was putting on the same jeans and turtleneck sweater from my first snow at Korea - trying to hold the same pose like 2005. How do I do? :-P
