USA geo class 1

I am back in school. Though I had been to USA two times previously, I did not spend any of my time, pulling out maps to see where on earth I was sitting/standing at unless it was sightseeing and shopping related requirement.

But, it is different this time. I have to live here and communicate to people. I had a friend planning a trip to drop by. He was telling me that his location by the end of the month would be Syracuse. "Where is it?" Google the place up and it is apparently one important city in the Central New York.

New York State is more than just the scenes from Sex and the City, The Apprentice and CSI: New York. New York is divided into 62 counties and into 11 regions. The vibrant never sleep city we normally see in the movies are usually at New York City region. Other than the New York City, there are 10 more other regions. I am staying at one of the other 10 regions, namely the Capital District. In the Capital District, there are 5 counties - Saratoga, Schenectady, Albany, Washington and Rensselaer. The county is further divided into cities, towns and villages. So, my exact location right now is Town of Wilton, Saratoga County. As the closest downtown for Wilton is Saratoga Springs, all the mails coming to our house has Saratoga Springs before the State and the postcode. For a girl coming from an 1048 km squared of island, this county itself is HUGGGEEEE! The New York State is indubitably humongous! (My mouth is at its maximum exclamation.)

Anyway, let me share a little bit more about Saratoga Springs. This part of New York State is actually a popular summer getaway for New Yorkers. When the summer hit, Saratoga Springs downtown is swamped with people, who are here for their summer vacation and horse racing events from July till September. "Restaurants and hotels are charging 30% extra than normal time", Donkoi says. This town is totally fanatic about horses. You see the horse sculptures at the hotel lobby, on the pedestrian pathway, in front of community building, in the park and even right in front of my neighborhood entrance. And, there is a museum solely focusing on horse racing. Mama, though you have been telling me to keep my hand off the betting on horse racing, I am definitely going to read up a lot about it. :)

Donkoi will be home in any minute. I need to start cooking our dinner. And, let me end this post with the table topic ribbon Donkoi got from the Thorobred Toastmasters Club. And, the ribbon is of course showcasing the love of this town again - the horse.
