What is the 30-hour famine?
A global movement against hunger and poverty. Participants (like moi) fast for 30 hours, learn about global issues and raise funds, transforming hunger into hope.
Where is the money going?
This year's Famine funds will help care for urban children in Thailand and Myanmar, fight HIV/AIDS in China and improve the lives of senior citizens, orphans and people living with disabilities in Malaysia.
Will my money reach those in need?
WorldVision maintains strict standards of financial responsibility and publishes an account of how the funds are used. Last year, 10% of fund raised were used for camp & fundraising expenses.
Leangz~** has signed up for the event after long consideration
For this event, my role is to experience the hunger for 30 hours while raising fund for my action. The hunger date is fixed at 14th of August 2010 till 15th of August 2010. I will attend the event at Chew Jetty Community Hall, Penang. (Fasting at UNESCO World Heritage Site, don't you think it is a bit glamor?)
By the way, you know how much I like to eat, don't you? To stop eating for 30 hours is absurd for me, therefore, please please support my determination to do it by giving out a penny or two, ok? Please contact me if you are interested to donate for my action. My minimum target is RM120. The mission has to be completed before 24th of July.
