Telok Tempoyah Ikan Bakar

In order to celebrate the World Cup opening ceremony, my colleagues and I went to Teluk Tempoyah for ikan bakar. I wasn't sure why we went out for dinner. Oh, I remember! It is because a US counterpart, David was here visiting us. He used to be assigned to Penang for a few years until end of 2009. When I saw him back, my first question to him was, "How long have you been gone?"

Sometimes, time just whoosh by without notice. When some people from the past chapters suddenly appear at the present chapter, you suddenly puzzle what have you been doing for the past 6 months or 12 months, except for the routine. Definitely, eating ikan bakar at Teluk Tempoyah was not part of routine. I came there once or twice 3 years ago and stopped going there for no apparent reasons.

The muddy sea and a few blue boats welcomed our arrival. David went all excited trying out his new camera with the scenery, which was once very familiar to him. He even snapped a photo of the kampung house. May be he needs all these photo to remind him not to come back to Penang? Hahaha. :-D

I have been here for so many times, but never walk out to the sea on this bridge.

There was a food court besides the sea. Inside the food court, we could get drinks, fried belacan kangkung, fried octopus and ikan bakar at separate stalls. Preferably, everything was paid right at the moment the food is put on the table. We ordered our items and sat down to wait for our ikan bakar! There were only two things you could do while waiting for the main cuisine - talking nonsense/finding other finger food. Both required the usage of month. Ha!

The fish was so fresh! And, very cold too.
Steam fish would do a better justice to their scarifies.

Let's check out the food we got. Again, please control you saliva from dripping onto your keyboard.
1. Fried octopus: RM15 (while waiting for our rice and ikan bakar)
2. Fried kangkung: RM10
3&4: two big fish + sauce + rice: RM56
