Donkoi and I went to Jurong Point mall on Saturday afternoon. By the time we reached the mall, my stomach was flattened. As usual, we went through the mall to see all of our options even though my eyes has locked at Din Tai Fung, which I happened to hear about while watching one of the TV show when I was lazing at Donkoi's place. Din Tai Fung is a famous Taiwanese Dim Sum restaurant. There are Din Tai Fung branches from Taiwan to LA. Yeah, slacking is a way to extend knowledge. ^.^
The restaurant layout, the wooden furniture and the female waitress in black uniform with strong Chinese accent felt like another typical high-class Chinese restaurant. A few minutes after we sat down, the menu was put on our table. It was a menu with Mandarin and English wording, but Donkoi still asked me to decide on what to eat. Puzzled.
After ten minutes of waiting, we were served with the freshly made crab meat xiao long bao by the chef. Steaming hot. How do Leangz eat her xiao long bao? Usually, I would: (1) dip the xiao long bao into the vinegar (2) suck the soup out of the xiao long bao (3) chew the remaining of xiao long bao. So, I did the same to the crab meat xiao long bao. The xiao long bao was nice, but I could not really taste the crab meat. Therefore, when I had my second dumpling, I decided not to dip it into the vinegar. Then, my whole mouth was penetrated with the crab juice. Ohsem! The chef even replaced a xiao long bao for us because there was a "broken" xiao long bao. Good service!
Any idea why there is a little dot beside the xiao long bao??
Rice noodle with vegetable minced meat dumpling in clear soup. I prefer vegetable minced meat dumpling to prawn minced meat dumpling because of two reasons. Reason one: I don't extremely crazy about prawn. Reason two: the vegetable minced meat dumpling gives combination of different textures.
We got the meat bun, but I still like the Char Siu Pao in Penang Market.
Tau Sar Pau, which was not too sweet. Must try.
When the table was filled with food, it was as if there was a tableful of happiness. Don't you agree, Donkoi? :) Total price for the food and the tea: $29.40SGD. Ka-chiang!
