Bangkok Day 2 - Marble Temple

Morning Market
While walking out from our hotel heading toward the Thong Lo BTS station, there were stalls lining along the pathway. Flower stalls, fruit stalls, vegetable stalls, fish stalls... the morning market was really vibrant with assorted of selling items.

Even the temperature of Bangkok is high, the flowers still look fresh and charming by just staying inside a water pail.

Auntie, don't have to paiseh leh... :)

Hualamphong Station
It is a station with many exits. Along the exit, there were posters, illustrating the construction of the Bangkok underground railway system. How did I know? Because we tried 3/4 of the exits until we got to the right exit.

Marble Temple (Wat Benchamabophit)
Upon reaching the temple, we strolled around the garden of this modern Bangkok Royal Wat. All of the buildings in the compound were not opened for visitors. But, the garden compound was enough to entertain the guests.

Interesting instrument - it was covered at one end, but opened at the other end. (not sure whether it is a Thai traditional instrument. Honestly, this instrument feel more African to me.)
The bell on the right - it was a gift from Korea to Thailand. Recognized it right away as I bought a miniature of similiar bell item at Pulguksa Temple during my trip in Korea.

The temple is known as Marble Temple to foreigners because Carrara Marble can be seen everywhere in the temple compound. It is used to construct the pillar as well as the floor. Besides the excessive usage of marble, the temple looks elegant with the detailed gold patterns on the roof.

When we were visiting the temple, the temple was actually going through restoration. For a 1900-built Wat, the temple was actually a well kept monument.
