Christmas gift-giving

Ever wonder there should be a more logical reason why people from all walks of corner are loving Christmas and celebrating Christmas besides than celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ? According to a wiki page that I am reading, a winter festival was traditionally the most popular festival of the year in many cultures. Reasons included less agricultural work needing to be done during the winter, as well as people expecting longer days and shorter nights after the winter solstice in the Northern Hemisphere. In part, the Christmas celebration was created by the early Church in order to entice pagan Romans to convert to Christianity without losing their own winter celebrations.

With these reasons, as a non-Christian, I feel I should be equal joyful and indulge in shopping spree , in a (ahem) equatorial country! Anyway, a few of my company friends have exchanged our gift ourselves. It is really sweet to receive gifts unexpectedly!
