22nd of Sep: Old Cheng Du

Background is a busy alley with countless of fashion shops.

Before setting off to visit the tourist sites in the morning, Donkoi and I walked at the shopping alleys beside Prime Hotel, Chengdu. The light city, which had been seen for the first time during the previous night, was encapsulated with different atmosphere. In the 8 of a Saturday morning, people of Chengdu were flocking in the city with friends and families.

Locals believe by touching the beard will grow the wisdom of a person.

Du Fu Cao Tang
First stop of the day is Du Fu Cao Tang. Du Fu Cao Tang (Thatched Cottage of Du Fu) is a 24 acre park and museum in honour of Tang dynasty poet Du Fu. In 759, Du Fu moved to Chengdu, built a thatched hut near the Flower Rinsing Creek and lived there for four years. The "thatched hut" period was the peak of Du Fu's creativity, he wrote two hundred and forty poems, among them: "My Thatched Hut was torn apart by Autumn Wind" and "The Prime Minister of Shu". In 1961, the Chinese govermment established Du Fu Cao Tang as a National Heritage site. Du Fu Cao Tang is now a mecca for Du Fu enthusiasts around the world to come over and pay tribute to the great poet.

Skating is really popular among the kids in Sichuan.

Lunch
Lunch was held at Yin San Zai Shi Fu. All the dishes were delicious while the Shuang Hua Cha was pure and aromatic with flowers fragrance. If you happen to visit Chengdu, this place is a must go for good Sichuan food with strong Chinese ambiance.

Happy mood after the lunch.

Wen Shu Yuan
According to our tour guide, this is the biggest temple in Chengdu. There are five halls at the complex, all with pretty tiled roofs, carved eaves and beautifully painted ceilings.

Chengdu Panda Breeding and Research Center

The giant pandas are not only a Chinese national treasure, but are also beloved by people the world over. They are found only in Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu provinces. In total, there are fewer than 1000 presently, of which 80% are distributed within the territory of Sichuan province. Therefore, one of main objectives visitors come to Chengdu, Sichuan Province is to see the giant pandas for themselves.

During our visit, we were brought to a small video theater, which showed a documentary from the panda pregnancy till its growing process. You know what? Panda is very reserved during their mating process. Apparently, panda-style mating means the male walks away every few moments for some air and then comes back to continue to mate. The female sort of lies there, just waiting for the male to mount her. I found this sequential pictures on other blog that say all about it.

18 sx.

What so ever, panda is rare and I wonder our future generation will have the chance to see it walking alive like I did. The surviving rate of baby panda was surprisingly low according to the static of the research center. However, I feel their effort in sustaining the survival of this rare population is unbelievable dedicated and beneficial to mankind. Let's applause for them.

Jiang You
Last station of the day was to head to Lee Bai's hometown, Jiang You to stay overnight. Imagine you have Lee Bai's poems labeled on all your toiletry kits in your bathroom. Imagine and visualize it....
