When I was stil staying with my grandma, we usually did our spring cleaning on the 1st day of the year because everyone help was required in the big house. As the big house was demolished for the apartment development, the big families were divided to a few different apartments on the island. The space has shrunk down at least 10 times, less sentimental thrash at home. You don't really need a spring cleaning to remind you that you have this thing hidden somewhere in your attic or the space underneath of the bedrooms. Slowly, the ritual was forgotten. We did our cleaning whenever we feel like or at least my mother will clean our house the day before the Chinese New Year in a smaller scale manner.
Ever since I moved here, I finally grasp the true idea of spring cleaning. It is the event of the year that get you to pack away your winter clothing, thrown away unwanted things at home and host a garage sale to sell off anything still unwanted yet usable items.
As Donkoi Seniors are visiting us for a month starting from Tuesday, I am dedicating today to do all the necessary packings, which Donkoi & I have been delaying. So far, I have gotten my toilet clean (after three people puking in it), washed all my clothes + floor mats + kitchen towels, mopped the tiled area, watered our plants, washed the balcony and converted our dining area to accomodate our cary.
I think I still have a long day role playing a housewife today...
1. Equip the bathroom with spare toiletries
2. Ironing 4-week load of clothes
3. Pack away Donkoi & my winter clothes to give closet space for Senior
4. Cook the today lunch + dinner + tomorrow lunch + dinner
5. Check the water leakage in my garage
6. Clean the kitchen counter top
What else?! What else?! I am hungry now. Have a nice day there, weee! :)
