Weekend crazy

At one go, I had finished editing all my photo. Phew. Mostly, the photos are from my weekends fooling around Upstate New York. Do I enjoy myself here so far? Of course, it is like a holiday for me, except that I need to iron clothes for Donkoi. :-P

17th April 2011
We went to NYS Military Museum at Saratoga Springs downtown. The museum exhibited items from the Revolutionary War, Civil War and World Wars. Also, the artifacts narrated how the American army being organized to become the strongest military force in the world.

24th April 2011
We finally went to see the Egg and many other important monuments in the Capital of New York State. Besides the iconic theater, the Empire State Plaza was quite interesting for the first time visit, especially the art collections and memorials, which was placed around the plaza area. :) Besides the Empire State Plaza, we spent around 2 hour walking around the downtown, discovering the different shades of red brick buildings in this old Dutch settlement and finding the assimilation of German and English influence in the architecture.

30th April 2011
We went to Saratoga Springs Art District to join in a vibrant Mardi Gras event. The weather was mercy to this outdoor event, no spring rain. Food vendors were lined up at both sides of the pavement, which spoiled us with numerous food variations; shiny necklaces on the kids were shimmering when they danced to the celebration music; greetings were exchanged among the adults with giggles intervening their conversation. All was good, especially when I did not sweat during this afternoon event. :)

1st May 2011
We had BBQ session at Donkoi's boss's backyard. The beef cube was so juicy that I am missing it dearly now. In addition to the beef, I discovered that portobello mushroom and clam were good ingredients for BBQ too. Slurp*

7th May 2011
Albany Tulip Festival is a historic event occurred annually. 200,000 tulip bulbs blossom into a sea of multicolor field at Washington Park, Albany.

I might sound like a frog under the well now. At the event, I learned things that I never know about tulips before. My impression of a tulip before the festival/coming to Upstate New York - the tulip's shape is always the tulip bulbs and there are only single colour tulips. So, the event surprised me with almost every divisions of tulips. When a tulip blossoms, it actually shows the stamens and stigmas at its darker colour base. Some of the tulips can grow to look like peony. :)

The festival was so crowded with people. Again, the festival was filled with even more variations of food than the Mardi Gras event. Donkoi was so excited with the food that he vowed to try everything in the venue. Haha. :-D
