Polling/Counting agent experience

If you are lazy to read my lengthy experience recount, just read my one line summary - the votes casting and votes counting in the stream is fair and clean.

A brief idea how is the voting process (since I know many of my friends missed the chance to vote due to valid reasons/lame excuses, blek!)* Check for your polling station through the SPR system >> Queue up outside of the assigned stream(Usually there are a few streams in the whole center. The voters are distributed to the streams according to their age groups.) >> Go into the polling station. There should be three election committees, two stream supervisors and candidates' polling observers. >> 1 EC member will read your I/C number; 1 EC member will tear out the voting tickets from the booklets (no pre-tearing is allowed); 1 EC member will punch the tickets with the special mark in the polling station >> Have private moment to stare at the papers and make two ticks >> Throw them into the properly sealed transparent ballot box with the help from the stream supervisors *

On that day, as one of the candidates polling agent, I was assigned to monitor the senior citizen stream. Seeing some incapable granny and grandpa marched in the room with pride triggering my highest respect. "Shame on you for not executing your right, young man." I can hear them sarcastically laughing at you.

Drifted away from the title, sorry. So, I observed the operation. I would say the flow has no flaws for people in creating "not necessary" votes. Besides the checking by the EC members, the polling agents counter-checked the information, observing the process. Since the ballot boxes were transparent, there were no way for voters to put in any papers and sneak the votes out. Something worth mentioning - no special marks were done on the votes, thus, the votes were totally confidential between you and may be your God. In addition to that, policemen were assigned outside the stream to maintain the public order. Therefore, the whole votes casting process was fair and righteous.

At 5 o'clock sharp, the center was closed and the ballot boxes were sealed with the directed sequences. Votes were counted accordingly without slight bias. Number of votes were recorded and signature were put down by the EC as well as the observers. Everyone respected each other purposes and tried their best to co-operate in ensuring the proper conduct of election process.

In conclusion, this simple process has been planned and carried out well in protecting the voting right of every Malaysians. Thus, stop worrying at unnecessary myths, which is told by someone to someone and someone to you. :-) (However, I reserved my comments on the recounting in the main center, which delayed the result till 5am the next morning.)
